Introduction to TIAACREF

TIAA CREF is the acronym for the  Teachers Insurance & Annuity Association of America College Retirement Equities Fund. TIAA is a Non-profit organization that includes for-profit subsidiaries. Tiaa cref is a renowned corporation that aims at helping the different monetary companies by providing help in the diverse fields of the tutorial, analysis, medical, cultural, and governmental fields.

Ever since its creation, it is striving hard to fulfill the objectives behind its creation. Today we know it as a non-profit group called TIAA Board of Overseers. The subsidiaries are taxable. Whatever earnings they collect from the policyholders goes back to the same. The corporation has its headquarters in Manhattan and works from other cities too, like  Denver, Colorado, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Dallas(Texas). Thus in total, there are 70 different places from where they are working. As per the ranking issued by Fortune in 2018, TIAA is the 84th largest company in the United States. In 2017, it was the most popular among agricultural investors and was also the second biggest wine grape grower in the United States.

How TIAA began?

The success story of TIAA began back in the mid of the first decade of the 20th century. It was in 1918 that the intellectual minds of Andrew Carnegie and Henry S. Pritchett came together. The result was none other than the popular Teachers Insurance & Annuity Association of America (TIAA). This platform was meant to fund the pensions of the professors. The major source of the funds was the grants that were coming from the Carnegie Company of New York. The other sources included the payments and funds added by the different collaborating people. Just after 3 years in 1921, the policyholders through the voting implemented the rule of illustration. This was expected to help the educators in acquiring the right job in any operating group.

• Enter your ID and password to log in.
• Follow the steps, if you cannot sign in.

Overview of CREF investment

• Invested in a shopping mall in Basingstoke known as Pageant place against £280 million in the year 2012.
• Invested in Grand Canal Shoppes and several others in Las Vegas in 2013. They invested in purchasing 50% of the above mentioned. It was a three-way partnership with the Common Development Properties.
• Purchased Nuveen Investments in 2014 worth $6.25 billion.
• Started off a deal ending in the purchase of  EverBank Monetary Corp. in 2016 that was worth $2.5 billion.
